AboutHistory / Philosophy

Jim Warner founded OnCourse International, LLC, in 1995, three years after selling his software company. From the onset Jim teamed with other ex-CEOs and professional facilitators committed to inspiring awareness, authenticity, and fun with both companies and individuals. For several years Jim’s work was primarily with Young Presidents’ Organization, breeding confidentiality, candor, creativity, and compassion within YPO and WPO chapters and forums. Jim Warner, Kaley Klemp, and Jim Kochalka have led over 800 events for YPO chapters and forums.

In the late 1990s Jim Warner and the OnCourse team began leading Life Transition retreats for individuals and couples navigating significant life change (vocational, personal, marital, financial, spiritual). These retreats spawned the team’s current Personal Transformation work with individuals, couples, and families.

More than two-thirds of the OnCourse team members have run a significant enterprise. In the early 2000s Jim Warner, Kaley Klemp, Jim Kochalka, and David Bloom created a blend of proven diagnostics, leadership trainings, executive advisory services, and team alignment retreats tailored specifically for business clients. The primary goals were to remove drama from the workplace, groom multidimensional leaders, and breed enduring collaboration and productivity in senior teams.

Our foundational philosophy in all environments is relationship authenticity, starting with the self. We choose to work with individuals who are committed to their own awareness and growth. They seek candid feedback, guidance, and accountability. Our clients, both individuals and organizations, seek ongoing clarity and refinement in their identity, their sense of purpose, and how they show up in the world. Their lives, and where possible their organizations, are grounded in courage, candor, curiosity, and celebration.

We commit to bring these tenets to every engagement. We ask our clients to do the same.

OnCourse Associates work with organizations whose
leaders embrace the following tenets of authenticity:

Our clients have the courage to make difficult transitions. We help our clients have direct, truthful conversations.

  • Taking full responsibility rather than blaming others for your circumstances
  • Taking risks and acting with integrity
  • Initiating difficult conversations
  • Making tough decisions
  • Inspiring and empowering others to achieve stretch goals

  • Transparency in interactions
  • Speaking your truth
  • Sharing your feelings
  • Owning your judgments
  • Asking for what you want

  • Approaching every interaction with a sense of wonder
  • Pondering and exploring vs. defending and judging
  • Welcoming feedback, even overt criticism, from all sources
  • Brainstorming creative approaches to problems, challenges, and opportunities

  • Catching colleagues “doing something good”
  • Ending interactions with an appreciative sentence about the recipient
  • Daily expressions of genuine and specific appreciation to one or more colleagues
  • Constantly looking for small victories to celebrate within the group
  • Bringing laughter and fun to the workplace
We guide our clients in finding their true selves. We encourage our clients to celebrate life.
